Math Accelerator Program
RISC Math Accelerator is a free online after-school math program for 6th-8th graders to get your kid caught up and ahead in math! Your student will receive a free membership to an online math platform that creates a personalized curriculum and access to on-call experienced math tutors available every weekday for homework help. Students work at their own pace on topics at their level and parents receive weekly updates on student progress. Historically, Students in this program have covered twice as much math as they would have in class. Sign up and learn more at mathaccelerator.org. While the target enrollment date for Spring 2021 is February 7, 2021, late enrollments will be accepted. This program is also available in Spanish!
Arts & Entertainment
The University of Chicago and the surrounding communities have a rich arts-infused culture that faculty, staff and students can take advantage of to enrich their experience. Faculty, staff and students are able to take advantage of membership benefits offered by the Smart Museum, Oriental Institute, Renaissance Society, and Hyde Park Art Center. Also, Court Theater offers discounts on performance tickets to University faculty, staff and students. Film lovers can take advantage of the on-campus movie theater, Doc Films. Music enthusiasts may enjoy The University of Chicago Presents' Classic Concert Series offered every academic year. Getting Around - Transportation & Parking
The University of Chicago offers several local transportation options for faculty, staff and students. CTA routes #171 and #172 serve the campus and surrounding neighborhoods. Students, staff, and faculty may show their University-issued IDs to ride these CTA routes free of charge. View a composite map of all three campus bus routes. UGo shuttles and evening buses, operated by the University around campus, are also available to students, faculty and staff.
The University has also partnered with other businesses to provide discounts on transportation options. Enterprise CarShare offers discounts to University faculty and staff. You can have access to Enterprise CarShare vehicles parked all over the city 24/7! Go Airport Express offers discounts to faculty and staff, call 1-800-284-3824 for information. Passport pictures can be purchased in the ID & Privileges Office.
The Qualified Transportation Benefit allows employees to pay for parking fees and public transit expenses with pre-tax dollars through payroll deductions.
Health & Wellness
Many faculty and staff take advantage of the campus health facilities before and after work, as well as during lunch time. Ratner and Henry Crown Fitness Centers offer discounts to University faculty and staff.
Bicyclists can also take advantage of the bike share program with Divvy.
As part of the Employee Assistance Program through Perspectives Ltd., faculty and staff have access to discounts on a variety of services.
The University of Chicago Medical Center Concierge Service provides employees discounts on a variety of services, 773.702.5757.
As one of the largest academic research libraries in the United States, the University of Chicago Library is a highly valued partner in research and special collections. University of Chicago faculty and staff can use their Chicago Card to borrow books and other materials such as journals and reserve items. Faculty and staff are invited to apply for membership with the Quadrangle Club,a private club on campus that offers dining and cater services, guest rooms, clay tennis courts. Members of the Quadrangle Club also enjoy social member events and reciprocal privileges with clubs in the Chicagoland area and around the world.
There are two financial institutions centrally located on campus: Citibank and Maroon Financial Credit Union.
Residential Properties provides services to faculty and staff seeking assistance in renting or purchasing a residence.
The Employer-Assisted Housing Program assists full-time benefits-eligible University of Chicago and University of Chicago Medicine employees with their home purchase in the neighboring communities of Douglas, Grand Boulevard, Greater Grand Crossing, Hyde Park, Kenwood, Oakland, South Shore, Washington Park, and Woodlawn. Safety & Security
University of Chicago Police Department offers services, such as Safety Escorts, to faculty and staff in their service area.
AT&T and Verizon, through Service-Now, offers employee discounts on rate plans for personal cell phones.
